Minnie Pwerle
Utopia artist, Minnie Pwerle began painting in her senior years with expressive, colourful paintings depicting Awelye (Women’s Ceremony) and her totem, the bush melon.
Her bold paintings have been likened to the gestural works of other Australian artists including Emily Kame Kngwarreye (c.2010- 2006) and Tony Tuckson (1921-1973) for their free-flowing linear quality.
In 2004 Minnie Pwerle was named as one of Australia’s 50 Most Collectable Artists in the Australian Art Collector.
