Ramingining
Ramingining is a remote Indigenous community in the Northern Territory, Australia, 560 kilometres east of Darwin. It is located on the edge of the Arafura Swamp in Arnhem Land with a population of approximately 800 people. The community was established in the early 1970s, and was formally recognised as Aboriginal land with the passage of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act of 1976.
Djambarrpuyngu is the main language in Ramingining, Gupapuyngu and Ganalbingu are also spoken. The film Ten Canoes directed by Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr, starring Crusoe Kurddal was filmed at Ramingining and nearby Murwangi outstation in 2006.
