Lajamanu

Lajamanu location mapLajamanu is a remote, small town in the Northern Territory of Australia. The town is located approximately 560 kilometres south west of Katherine and 890 kilometres south of Darwin. In the 2006 census, Lajamanu had a population of 669. Most residents of Lajamanu are Indigenous Australians. The traditional owners speak Warlpiri with English as a second language.

Ceremonies and art making are important to the Warlpiri artists of the Lajamanu region. The artists paint their totems, dreamings, ceremonial stories for country and the abundance of bush foods as they come in to season.
