As the son of a ceremonial leader, Garry learnt the traditional way of life, and is an excellent hunter and food gatherer. He has appeared in several documentaries depicting his art, dancing and traditional bush skills including fishing with a four-pronged spear and digging for yams.
Garry lives at Gumarrirnbang -a remote outstation in the stone country between Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) and Ramingining.
